Saturday, December 12: Christmas Party Fly-In at the Hacienda De Gay Don Gay is holding a Christmas party at his house (Hacienda De Gay). Food will be served starting at 1:00 PM but come as early as you want. Remember to land coming in over the pond on runway 17, NO MATTER WHAT THE WIND DIRECTION IS! The runway is grass, 2000 feet long, and is 80 feet wide with pine trees on each side. The airstrip, starting at the pond edge, has a gradual incline for about 500 feet, then tapers off to a slight incline to the opposite end. After landing, taxi back down the runway to the pond and someone will guide you to parking. If no one is there taxi between the little "outbuilding" and the pond to the parking area. The runway is located two miles EAST of Garfield off paved highway county number 289. GPS coordinates are: 32 39.82'N / 82 04.47'W. Elevation is 300 feet and the CTAF is 122.8. Land directions: If coming into Garfield from Millen on Highway 23 go into Garfield and turn left (east) at the signal light. Go through Garfield up the hill. At the top of the hill turn left on Augusta Road. Follow that road for a mile or so until you see an 8 by 12 foot sign reading "Hacienda De Gay." Turn left there and follow the runway to the house. EVERYONE IS INVITED! BRING YOUR FAMILY, FRIENDS AND GUESTS. Come enjoy the food, friends and camaraderie.

Saturday, October 16: 7th ANNUAL FLY IN & OPEN HOUSE AT BUZ'S AIRSTRIP Jerry Rooks invites all the gazillions of pilots you know to the 7th Annual Fly In and Open House. He thinks it would be great fun to see a bunch of ultralights this year. The date is Saturday, October 16th, from 10:00 AM till afternoon. BBQ will be provided -- no charge. This event will be held at Jerry Rook's airstrip northwest of Ocala, Florida. The strip is identified as "Buz" on the Jacksonville sectional; 295 degrees -- 15 nm from the Ocala VOR. The Swamp Cabbage Festival Parade starts at 10:00 AM and lasts until noon. Then it's off to Baron Bark for lots of entertainment and arts and crafts. Saturday, April 29: Fly-in, Buy-in Augusta Aviation, located at Daniel Field in Augusta, GA (DNL) is planning a Fly-in, Buy-In (a first for them) on April the 29th.  If you have an aircraft that you are thinking about selling or might be thinking of buying one, this will be a great opportunity for you.  There will be no charge to buy or sell for private owners, but you must pre-register to show.  Registration forms are available on line at www.augustaaviation.com/fly-in-buy-in.htm   The time is from 9 am to 5 pm.  Others that are scheduled to attend are: Textron Financial, Powell Title Service, Wachovia Bank, Aero Trader and more.  Whatever is needed to buy or sell an airplane will be there.

Saturday, Sunday, November 18-19: Plant City, Florida, airport (PCM);  WORLD WAR II D-DAY VETERAN AIRCRAFT TO TAKE PART IN STRAWBERRY AIRFEST
In addition to free airplane rides for kids at the Strawberry Airfest, there will be a special visit from the Tico Belle, the C47A that delivered paratroopers to Normandy, France on D-Day.

This World War II invasion veteran will be visiting the Airfest both days, November 18-19 at the Plant City Airport.  Folks will have a chance to learn all about how the Tico Belle earned her stripes the hard way.  And, they will get to witness the astonishing sound of the radial engine startup of this authentic aircraft. The focus of the Strawberry Airfest will be flying children ages 8-17 as part of the nation's Young Eagles Program.  Kids who fly in Plant City will be added to the Experimental Aircraft Association's (EAA) nationwide goal of flying one million young people by 2003. The 100th anniversary of the Wright brothers' first powered flight and the 50th anniversary of the EAA will also be that year.

There will be lots to do on the ground too, during the 5th annual Strawberry Airfest, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM both days.  Activities will include children's games, arts and crafts, moonwalks, helicopters and vintage airplanes, a child-size flight simulator, radio controlled model planes, ultralight vehicles, the Plant City Chamber Business Expo, and more. Admission to the event is free; to park there is a $5.00 per vehicle donation.

To get to the Plant City Airport, take I-4 to Branch Forbes Road, Exit 10 and follow the signs.

Sunday, November 19: Party at the Hacienda De Gay (7GA3 in the Atlanta Sectional) Don Gay is holding a party at his house (Hacienda De Gay). Food will be served starting at 1:00 PM but come as early as you want. Remember to land coming in over the pond on runway 17, NO MATTER WHAT THE WIND DIRECTION IS! The runway is grass, 2000 feet long, and is 80 feet wide with pine trees on each side. The airstrip, starting at the pond edge, has a gradual incline for about 500 feet, then tapers off to a slight incline to the opposite end. After landing, taxi back down the runway to the pond and someone will guide you to parking. If no one is there taxi between the little "outbuilding" and the pond to the parking area. The runway is located two miles EAST of Garfield off paved highway county number 289. GPS coordinates are: 32 39.82'N / 82 04.47'W. Elevation is 300 feet and the CTAF is 122.8. Land directions: If coming into Garfield from Millen on Highway 23 go into Garfield and turn left (east) at the signal light. Go through Garfield up the hill. At the top of the hill turn left on Augusta Road. Follow that road for a mile or so until you see an 8 by 12 foot sign reading "Hacienda De Gay." Turn left there and follow the runway to the house. EVERYONE IS INVITED! BRING YOUR FAMILY, FRIENDS AND GUESTS. Come enjoy the food, friends and camaraderie!

Saturday - Sunday, March 17-18: MACON, GEORGIA, INTERNATIONAL CHERRY BLOSSOM EAA CHAPTER 38 ANNUAL AIRCRAFT FLY-IN at Macon's downtown Herbert Smart Airport(MAC). Fly your aircraft in on Friday afternoon if you like. The 'Fly-In" will attract Homebuilts, Classic Airplanes, Vintage, Military (Warbirds), Ultra-lights, Gyrocopters and Helicopters to middle Georgia. Judges will select the best aircraft and award solid walnut plaques to the deserving winners. The popular Radio Controlled planes will be an added feature with a miniature runway (closed taxi strip) with scaled markings, tower, windsock,etc, for added realism. The fun filled two day event is FREE and open to the general public. Plenty of food will be available .  It is our hangar fund raiser for our Middle Georgia Chapter 38. Transportation will be provided for those Fly-In visiters who would like to take in other Cherry Blossom events. One has to see Macon when in full, colorful, spring time bloom with thousands of Cherry trees. There are three main ingredients in having a successful Fly-In.  They are: GOOD FLYING WEATHER, Plenty of visiting planes and folks like you to come and enjoy the Wonderful World of Sport Aviation.

Saturday April 7: Confederate Air Force Open House at the New Century Air Center (IXD) right by the Gardner, Kansas, Municipal  Airport ; GPS: 38° 49.854' N / 94° 53.418' W; Elevation 418' We'd really like some WW I aircraft or replicas to attend. The Kansas City Dawn Patrol will be there! It should be a pretty good size event this year and we expect it to grow each year and eventually into a full fledge Air Show. We will have a dogfight (P-51 vs. Zero), live bands, rides for sale in various aircraft. The P-51 and B-25 will be the big draw and lots of action and noise will be generated to please the crowd.

Saturday, April 28: Warner Robbins AFB Open House & AirShow At the Warner Robbins Air Force Base, Warner Robbins, Georgia. Featuring the Canadian Snowbirds. A 50 seat Lewis Bus has been chartered to go to Warner Robbins on Saturday. There are about 10  to 15 seats available at only $8.00 each, if you reserve them by Thursday at 6pm.  This is on a first reserved first taken basis.  Now, don't just reserve and then not go -  If you do, you owe the $8.00 per seat that you reserved.  The bus leaves at 6:30 AM SHARP!  You can sleep on the bus.  The airshow starts at 9:30 and ends at 5:30, so the bus will leave to return shortly after the show is over. Ultralight: Moni KFM had a hard landing some aluminum needs to be replaced and a better wheel is needed plus  some other added work. I have a Silouette 447 -- trailer available. Also a Weedhopper  with a 503 Rotax (belt drive), no sail or prop, needs wing parts.  Prop and sails are needed for it. Also needs some wing parts. 1965 Cessna 310J -- needs nose skin repair. Saturday, June 30: Pig Pickin' at the Hacienda De Gay Don Gay is holding a Pig Picking  at his house (Hacienda De Gay). Food will be served starting at 1:00 PM but come as early as you want. Remember to land coming in over the pond on runway 17, NO MATTER WHAT THE WIND DIRECTION IS! The runway is grass, 2000 feet long, and is 80 feet wide with pine trees on each side. The airstrip, starting at the pond edge, has a gradual incline for about 500 feet, then tapers off to a slight incline to the opposite end. After landing, taxi back down the runway to the pond and someone will guide you to parking. If no one is there taxi between the little "outbuilding" and the pond to the parking area. The runway is located two miles EAST of Garfield off paved highway county number 289. GPS coordinates are: 32 39.82'N / 82 04.47'W. Elevation is 300 feet and the CTAF is 122.8. Land directions: If coming into Garfield from Millen on Highway 23 go into Garfield and turn left (east) at the signal light. Go through Garfield up the hill. At the top of the hill turn left on Augusta Road. Follow that road for a mile or so until you see an 8 by 12 foot sign reading "Hacienda De Gay." Turn left there and follow the runway to the house. This year a Spot Landing and Slow Flight contest on Saturday of the Convention. A PRA member has donated $1000 to be divided between the 1st Place winners. So get practiced up and try for the $500 prize in each event. Dave Prater is in charge of the contests and will hold a mandatory pilot briefing prior to each event. Safety will be the primary concern.
This is the sixth convention held at the new home of the Popular Rotorcraft Association, PRA Mentone Airport.

What is the Great Western Freedom Fly-In and Rotorcraft Round-Up?  The Fly-in is hosted by the Popular Rotorcraft Association's Chapter One. We do not "run" the fly-in, but only set the date and  send out the invitation to both pilots and spectators. As the Rotorcraft Round-Up implies, this fly-in celebrates both gyroplanes  and homebuilt helicopters.

Saturday, December 8: Pig Pickin' Low-Country Boil at the Hacienda De Gay Don Gay is holding a Pig Picking-Low Country Boil  at his house (Hacienda De Gay - 7GA3). Food will be served starting at 1:00 PM but come as early as you want. Remember to land coming in over the pond on runway 17, NO MATTER WHAT THE WIND DIRECTION IS! The runway is grass, 2000 feet long, and is 80 feet wide with pine trees on each side. The airstrip, starting at the pond edge, has a gradual incline for about 500 feet, then tapers off to a slight incline to the opposite end. After landing, taxi back down the runway to the pond and someone will guide you to parking. If no one is there taxi between the little "outbuilding" and the pond to the parking area. The runway is located two miles EAST of Garfield off paved highway county number 289. GPS coordinates are: 32 39.82'N / 82 04.47'W. Elevation is 300 feet and the CTAF is 122.9. Land directions: If coming into Garfield from Millen on Highway 23 go into Garfield and turn left (east) at the signal light. Go through Garfield up the hill. At the top of the hill turn left on Augusta Road. Follow that road for a mile or so until you see an 8 by 12 foot sign reading "Hacienda De Gay" -- 6250 Elam/Airstrip Road -- Turn left there and follow the runway to the house. EVERYONE IS INVITED! Saturday-Monday, December 29 - December 31: Sunstate Wing and Rotor Club - PRA Chapter 26, EAA Chapter 1192: New Year's Rotorcraft Fly-In: Wauchula, Florida at the Wauchula Airport (FD06); Early Bird Day: Friday, December 28; On Monday. December 31st, New Year's Eve,  the Sunstate club will be holding its elections and also have a Banquet. For that night, Bud will be cooking some nice, tender gator meat for a potluck meal. If everyone brings a dish to share then they should be able to have a nice sit-down buffet meal. They will have a bonfire after the meal. UNICOM/CTAF 122.9 mhz.
