2002 Low-Country Boil Fly-in
RECORD ULTRALIGHT/LIGHT PLANE TURNOUT
AT MILLEN LOW-COUNTRY BOIL

5th Annual Low Country Boil Fly-in
November 9, 2002

By 10:00 AM there were already 15 aircraft on the field, half of them ultralight or light planes. At this time everyone started enjoying Keith Brocks delicious Gumbo. By the end of the day nearly 80 aircraft had been to the fly-in. About 250 people were there including many local residents.  Were were treated with visits from almost all the EAA 330 (Briar Patch) members as well as clubs from Waycross, Warner Robbins, the Carolina Sport Flyers, groups from Wrens, Louisville, Lincolnton and Trenton, South Carolina.

There were plenty of Cessnas, Mooneys, a few each of the RV-6, a Glasair, a Thorp T-18,  two Giles 202, several Pipers in different flavors -- Cub, Tomahawks. For the ultralight/light plane crowd, there were three Kolbs, one Challenger II, eight Titans, a Quicksilver MX, several Rans S-12s and a Rans S-14, an Adventura and a SeaRey floatplanes, a Zenith 701 and an Air Creation Trike.

And we "didn't eat no hotdogs!" We had plenty of fine shrimp, potatoes, corn and other tasty tidbits in the Low Country Boil feast.

More details later!

Many EAA 330 members (Briar Patch, near Savannah) were at the fly-in. At your right is their president, Wayne McCullough.
Only a part of the General Aviation flight line -- more were lined up in a second row and at the end of the runway.
Not to be outdone, Charlie Davis flew his Skybolt, the Red Baron,  for the onlookers.
