Held February 3, 2001

Although it was a bit cold (in the 50s) and overcast,
on Saturday, February 3, 2001, 65 new Young Eagles were flown.
In addition, Augusta aviation pilots flew 19 adults.

The registration tent was set up by noon. EAA 172's Logistics Director, Ken "Omar" Rayburn was in charge of the setup. Aerospouse Director Maureen Rhodes made sure the Food Trailer was ready to serve. Over the next three hours over 100 adults and youngsters visited the Young Eagles area at Daniel Field, Augusta, Georgia (DNL). Al Newman was in charge of the pre-flight orientation for the prospective Young Eagles. Many EAA 172 members assisted including Mark Slone and Randy Powell. Rita Garner headed up the Registration table. She was assisted by Michael Garner, Sarah Reis, J.P. Reis and Anne Marie Reimsnider.

The Young Eagles Flight Leaders (the pilots) were Larry Garner, Tom Jackson, Terry Florie, Keith Donker, David Reville, Dick Schoenfelder and Betty and Leroy Dant.

My most gracious thanks to all the pilots who participated in the 2001 Winter Young Eagles Rally! Also Thanks to all the EAA172 members who showed up to help and to the Aerospouses who handled the food concession.
